If you didn’t already know in July 2012 London will be at the centre of the sporting world as it hosts the greatest show on earth the 2012 Olympic & Para Olympic Games. Many of the Olympic games will be held at the new Olympic park in the East end of London near Statford. London Live
For the 2012 London Olympic Games, Hyde Park will be one of Three iconic locations for London Live. Alongside Victoria Park in the East End of London and Trafalgar Square, Hyde Park will give visitor the chance to join in the excitement of the biggest sporting event on the planet.
London Live Hyde Park will have six giant screens – including the UK’s largest at 144m² giving un-paralleled coverage of every Olympic medal live throughout the day.
During the evening the London Live main screen will host a brilliant live music stage bringing headline music performances from around the world to Hyde Park. Early evening main stage sets start at 5.30pm with more live music at 9pm. Plus there will be 2 spectacular celebration concerts on 27 July and 12 August for the Olympic Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
Concession stands for refreshments, live music throughout the day in a more intimate performance space and outdoor art performers will add to the excitement and carnival atmosphere.
'Have a go' areas will give people of all ages and abilities a chance to try out a range of Olympic and Paralympic sports from Handball, Athletics, Hockey and Equestrian simulators, to Paralympic sports including Sitting Volleyball and Wheelchair Basketball.
Olympic and Paralympic sponsors will also use Hyde Park to showcase and entertain visitors with a number of fun and interactive public pavilions being created especially for London Live.
To mark 60 years of The Queen's reign the Diamond Jubilee will take place in 2012. The celebrations will centre around an extended weekend in 2012 on 2, 3, 4 and 5 June.
