London Attractions - Diamond Jubilee Weekend

To mark 60 years of The Queen's reign the Diamond Jubilee will take place in 2012. The celebrations will centre around an extended weekend in 2012 on 2, 3, 4 and 5 June.

On Saturday 2nd June, The Queen will attend the Epsom Derby.

On Sunday 3rd June the Big Jubilee Lunch and the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant will take place. At high water (Approximately between 1.30 & 2pm) in the afternoon of Sunday 3 June 2012, up to a thousand boats will muster on the River Thames in preparation for Her Majesty The Queen to lead the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant. It will be one of the largest flotillas ever assembled on the river. Rowed boats and working boats and pleasure vessels of all shapes and sizes will be beautifully dressed with streamers and Union Jacks. The Flotilla will gather between Hammersmith Bridge and Battersea Bridge where the pageant will start. The flotilla is expected to arrive at Tower Bridge around 4pm, where the Queen will disembark and inspect the Tall ships moored there.

Battersea Park Jubilee Festival

As part of the planned entertainment for the Pageant, there will also be a festival held in Battersea Park, where visitors will be able to watch the flotilla as it passes by the park’s northern Thameside. The Jubilee-themed entertainment, curated by Hemingway Design and Clare Patey, will be a day-long programme of funfair, competitions, games, food and cookery, storytelling, fashion, and live music through the decades. More information on the Battersea Park Festival.
