Science Museum

London Science Museum

The exhibits at the museum change regularly so even if you have been before, the Science Museum is one of those places you can visit again and again. If you are passionate about science or just find it interesting, this museum is worth a visit. They believe in making science fun and hands-on. It’s a great day out for anyone, young or old.

How To Get There
From the Darlington Hotel, it takes about 20 minutes to get to the Science Museum. Get on the tube at Paddington Station, and ride for five stops. This takes you to South Kensington. The museum is a short 5-minute walk from the tube stop. Keep your eye out for the pedestrian subway that links the tube station to the main entrance of the museum.

If you are in the mood for a gentle stroll, the Science museum is a 30-minute walk away. It’s a pleasant walk from one side of Hyde Park to the other.

Planning Your Visit
The museum is open every day from 10 am to 6 pm. Entry to the main museum is free, although they do welcome donations. There are some special exhibits that require the purchase of a ticket. You can check what these are on the Science Museum’s website.

Food, Drink, and Shopping
There are several places to rest your feet and refuel within the museum. If you have a hearty appetite, then there is a diner, a welcoming family restaurant. The Energy Cafe and the Gallery Cafe offer light lunches and refreshments. The Basement cafe sells drinks and packed lunches that you take out to the picnic areas. You can, of course, bring your own packed lunch. If you have a sweet tooth, then you should make a point of stopping in at the Shake Bar where you can indulge in some of the best ice creams and milkshakes in London.

If you are left wanting more then you should check out the shop. There is a mind-boggling area of gift ideas for grownups and children alike that will help you to keep the science bug alive and well, even after your visit is done.
