The Chelsea Flower Show is a British institution. The Royal Horticultural Society holds shows all over the country, but the show at Chelsea is known worldwide. In 2021, the show will be held on the 21st - 26th September.
At the show, you can see not only flowers but also Avant-Garde landscape design. Each year famous designers and gardeners view for recognition. Each garden is hoping to win a gold medal.
History Of The Show
The show has been held since 1912 when it was known as the Great
Spring Show. The show has always been popular but the year of the Queen's Coronation was the start of
a real boom for the Show. Virtually every member of the royal family attended the show, apart from the
Queen. Since then, there has always been a royal presence at the show.
As the popularity of the show grew, so did the number of tents, until there was simply no room for any more. Every year, the show now reaches its maximum capacity of 157,000 people each year. Because of the popularity of the show, it is essential to get tickets in good time. If you leave it too late, you very may well miss out.
